Katy Perry And The Script Top Charts
Abba's Gold compilation has been knocked from the top spot by Irish band The Script whose debut, self-titled album, has entered the UK album chart at number one. The Script also enjoyed chart success with their single The Man Who Can't Be Moved climbing up one place to three.
The top of the singles charts remained the same for another week. I Kissed A Girl by US singer Katy Perry remained at number one, followed by Kid Rock at number two with All Summer Long.
Other action in the singles chart this week saw Madcon's Beggin come in at number seven as the highest debut single in the charts. The only other new entry to appear inside the top twenty came in the form of Bloc Party and their single Mercury at number 16.
After a huge leap in sales last week Rihanna's latest single Dirsturbia continued it's rise with a futher jump of three places, settling at number six.
Coldplay's Viva La Vida re-appeared in the top 10 this week at number 10, climbing up four places from last week's 14.
In the album chart the debut album from Noah and The Whale, Peaceful The World Lays Me Down, resided at number five, with their single, 5 Years Time, settled at number nine in the singles charts.
Jane McDonald , who shot to fame on the BBC fly-on-the-wall documentary The Cruise, completes the new entries in the album chart with her new collection Jane coming in at number seven.
