With more than 220,000 sales in its first week of release it has become the second biggest seller of the year, the first going to Viva La Vida, or Death and All His Friends from Coldplay.
Both the album and singles chart saw a little more action this week than in previous weeks. New entries in the album chart came from Pussycat Dolls, Bette Midler, McFly and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. However, even this surge of new releases could not break into the top three. Rihanna has now spent 69 weeks in the album chart and this week Good Girl Gone Bad charted at number two. Duffy's Rockerferry came in at number three, marking her 30th week in the charts.
The highest new entry in this weeks singles chart came from James Morrison with You Make It Real charting at number seven.
One place below, at eight, came the latest single from Sugababes - Girls, sampling the retro track from the recent Boots advert.
Faith Hill entered the chart at ten with There you'll Be, after the song was performed on the X-Factor, reducing judge and Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole to tears.
19-year-old Amy Connelly sang the ballad after revealing that her mother had died when she was only seven years old. The song, which featured on the film Pearl Harbour charted at number three in 2001.
Alicia Keys and Jack White came in at number 26 with their Bond Theme, Another Way To Die. Use Somebody, a Kings Of Leon album track charted at 29, whilst the Jonas Brothers came in at 30 with Burnin' Up.
