Kylie's Voice Makes West End Musical Debut

Kylie Minogue's voice is to make it's debut in the West End show, Rent. The play, starring Denise Van Outen, features a series of different answerphone messages recorded by the singer.

Kylie's creative collaborator, William Baker, directs the musical at the Duke of York Theatre, which Kylie is expected to attend on Monday's opening night.

Ewan Thomson, a spokesman for theatre, said it was "a great way to get her involved in a small way."

He said only those who know it is Minogue's voice would be able to identify the half-a-dozen recordings. In some cases, her voice has been digitally changed to make it sound masculine.

"It is great to have Kylie on board, and she was very kind to agree to do it," said Mr Thomson.

Rent by Jonathan Larson, is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Boheme. The musical tells the story of a group of young New Yorkers dealing with life and love in the shadow of AIDS. The musical has been re-worked by Baker for the 21st century.
