Lady Sovereign Goes To Number 10

At the end of October Lady Sovereign was invited to Downing Street to meet Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown to discuss some of the issues facing young people in the UK.

Amongst the issues discussed was the banning of the hoodie from many UK shopping centres, as highlighted by Sovereign's "Save The Hoodie" campaign.

The recently launched campaign is an attempt by Sovereign to save the hoodie from the current wave of middle England's alarmist tactics. Sov aims to outline the absurdity of banning an item of clothing and to draw attention to the greater social issues at heart. Check out the www.savethehoodie.com website for more information and to sign the petition.

So far more than 1,500 people have signed the petition to save the hooded sweatshirt and Sovereign is due to return to Downing Street with the petition in the next couple of weeks.

Sovereign's new single 'Hoodie' is released on 21 November through Island Records.
