Latest Reading and Leeds Festival News

One of the most hotly-tipped of up-and-coming acts, ARNAB CHANDA (Leeds 22/8, Reading 23/8) has a clinical style, with meticulously crafted jokes slickly told with an assured but underplayed delivery. He's got enough to talk about from his background alone, which is so mixed he's a one-man diversity workshop. Born in Pontefract of Indian stock, he was raised in Saudi Arabia and, latterly, the US.

Actor and stand-up ALISTAIR BARRIE (Leeds 22/8, Reading as MC 24/8) first rose to prominence with his sell-out 2002 debut Edinburgh show The Uncertainty Principle. Alistair continued to consolidate his position in 2003 as one of the rising stars of the national and international circuit. Appearing soon on BBC 7's Spanking New, Alistair has also performed throughout the UK and Ireland and as far afield as Amsterdam, Brussels, the Channel Islands, Sydney and Melbourne.

Every so often a comedian comes along who challenges the sensibilities of the public at large. JASON ROUSE (Leeds 22/8, Reading 23/8) an agile young Hamiltonian is fast becoming the most celebrated 'odd-ball' in Canadian comedy today. His stand-up comedy act is a clever combination of devilishly crafted jokes and 'freak-show-like' theatrics.

There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.
  7. Taio CruzTaio Cruz: ilikemusic because... It’s my life and it’s the air that I breathe. It calms me when I’m feeling uptight and it’s there for me when I want to party if I want to listen to something up tempo, it’s just amazing in any situation. That’s why I like music!
