I Like Music Because heading
  • simon f bakersimon f baker: ilikemusic because... you can transcend the confines of the material world with it, it's probably better than shagging in fact. There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.

Liam Gallagher Makes Top Ten Wittiest List

Liam Gallagher has been named the tenth wittiest person in British history according to a poll for new digital channel Dave (previously UKTV G2).

The Oasis singer was found to be one of the wittiest musicians, as Dave sought to discover the greatest British wit of all time ever.

Liam is famous for his insults targeted at other bands and once claimed at an Oasis Knebworth gig that, "Americans want grungy people, stabbing themselves in the head on stage. They get a bright bunch like us, with deodorant on, they don't get it."

Dave polled 3,000 male comedy fans for the poll which ranked Oscar Wilde as the most witty Brit of all time.

No women made the top ten. Margaret Thatcher was named the wittiest woman ranking in 12th place in the poll.

"Dave is a place where intelligence meets irreverence, the surreal meets the spontaneous..."

The top ten, according to Dave's poll:

1. Oscar Wilde
2. Spike Milligan
3. Stephen Fry
4. Jeremy Clarkson
5. Sir Winston Churchill
6. Paul Merton
7. Noel Coward
8. William Shakespeare
9. Brian Clough
10. Liam Gallagher
