The world's hottest rapper Lil Wayne's feverishly anticipated new album The Rebirth, is the follow-up to Tha Carter III. The first news of the record comes in the form of the album cover.

Wayne's staggering success in 2008, both commercially and critically, was recognised at the 2009 Grammy's where he won 4 Awards. He had lead the field with a whopping eight nominations ahead of Coldplay with seven, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West who each earned six nods. Wayne gave one of his show stealing performances at the event; teaming up with T.I, Jay-Z, M.I.A and Kayne West for Swagger Like This and Robin Thicke for Tie My Hands, taken from Wayne's multi-award winning album Tha Carter III.

Tha Carter III was the top-selling album of any genre in the US last year where it's fast approaching the 3 million sales mark. In the UK Wayne has sold over 130,000 copies of the album, propelled by the enduring hit single Lollipop and has also been smashing it around the world as the featured guest on protégé Kevin Rudolph's 2 million selling hit Let It Rock which went Top 5 in the UK.

Lil Wayne has now released 7 records, sold over 10 million albums, and has made an incredible 40 guest features since 1999. That doesn't take into account the massive amount of mixtapes and leaked tracks that hit the net on an almost weekly basis. His most well known collaborations include Destiny's Child, Mary J Blige, Chris Brown, Gwen Stefani, Akon and many more yielding a clutch of top 10 US smashes.
