In the words of The King Blues: music can bring the world together :) The MTV Video Music Awards took place in Las Vegas on September 9th and saw Britney make her comeback performance while Rihanna took home three awards.
Rihanna collected Artist of the Year from Dre and Mary J Blige, along with Video of the the Year and Monster Single.
Dre arrived on stage to a standing ovation as Mary J announced, "Every day is Dre day in music."
Male Artist of the Year was awarded by Timbaland to Justin Timberlake who also took home the Quadruple Threat of the Year Winner award, Best Choreography for My Love (Choreographer: Marty Kudelka) and Best Direction for "What Goes Around....Comes Around" (Director: Samuel Bayer).
Female Artist of the Year went to Fergie, while Best Editing Award went to Gnarls Barkley for "Smiley Faces" (Editor: Ken Mowe)
Stand out performances included Alicia Keys cover of George Michael's Freedom and Fall Out Boy's collaboration with Rihanna for Shut Up And Drive. Fall Out Boy took home the award for Best Group. Britney made her comeback appearence of her new single, Gimme More, rough round the edges, but still Britney bitch!
