M Craft - You Are The Music EP

M Craft You Are The Music EP / M Craft

If you're given to idly speculating on what Fleetwood Mac would have sounded like if they entered into a disco collaboration with Serge Gainsbourg, then Martin Craft's timeless anthem You Are The Music provides the nearest we're ever likely to get for an answer.

Rather than opting for the usual remix from the latest studio bloke du jour, Martin has invited his friends and fellow travellers Ali Love and King Creosote to deliver their own interpretations of You Are The Music.

Ali Love turns in a shimmering electro disco take that for best effect should be listened to on a Walkman while rollerskating round a car park (but do try to remember home taping is killing music). King Creosote on the other hand opts for a mournful accordian-led folk interpretation that lends itself more to a good belt of scotch and a roaring fire. Both are fantastic pieces of music that amply demonstrate how well Martin's songwriting shines regardless of genre divides.

Taken from his debut LP 'Silver & Fire' (released May 22nd) Martin Craft (hailing from Canberra, Australia and now residing in East London) is one of finest contemporary song writers of today. A sweetly sad, sophisticated and soulful mix of modern pop and classic song writing has won him fans as broad as the Magic Numbers and the Chemical Brothers. Refusing to ape any style but his own, swerving nostalgia, Martin touches on romance but ultimately delivers the reality he lives and sees and somehow makes it all sound like one universally accessible and beautiful story.

M-Craft toured in May - fans including Jose Gonzalez were blown away by their deftly sexy mix of electronic easy listening and sheer stage presence at his new live band's debut gig at Too 2 Much in London in April.

Watch out for the interview with M Craft coming real soon.
