Master Gee: ilikemusic because... It gives me an opportunity to truly express myself, unlike what happens in an everyday living situation where there are restrictions on you and limitations on you and demands on you and bills to pay, through music I can truly be comfortable with who I am, and do what I really want to do and say what I really want to say.

But it was Outstanding Contribution Award winner, Sir Paul McCartney who stole the show and made everyone stand up and take note of how it's really done after announcing, "British music is the best." His finale performance of hits including the recent Dance Tonight, plus Live And Let Die and Hey Jude had all of Earl's Court on their feet. Incredible, impressive and suitably legendary.
Arctic Monkeys, dressed in English country gentleman outfits of tweed breeches, flat caps and pipes and ever-so-slightly drunk, accepted their awards for Best British Group and Best British Album, although their speech, which included sarcastic Brit School jibes, was cut short by Brits bosses.
The inaugural winner of the newly-minted Critics' Choice award was 19-year-old, London-born discovery Adele (who, along with Kate Nash, Katie Melua and Will Young attended the aforementioned Brit School). Kate Nash won the Brit for Best British Female, while producer, Mark Ronson took home the Best British Male award announcing he'd "never felt more British or more male in my life." Kanye West won Best International Male, announced by Kelly Rowland, Foo Fighters won Best International Group and Album and Kylie took home Best International Female Brit Award, presented to her by Dr Who himself, David Tennant.
