Tom Baxter: ilikemusic because... It makes you feel alive more than anything else.
Jo Whiley: ilikemusic because... It makes me laugh and it makes my cry and it gets me out of a stress if I’m in a stress, and, if I’m in a good place then it will make me in a better place. The single knocked Estelle's American Boy single featuring Kanye West off the top spot after four weeks at number one, slipping down to number two.
Madonna's 13th number one single occurs 23 years after she first topped the UK chart and is taken from her 11th album, Hard Candy. 13 is 'lucky for some' and certainly is for Madonna, who has more UK number ones than any other female solo artist.
Meanwhile, in the UK album chart, The Kooks claimed the top spot with their second album Konk, with Leona Lewis's Spirit album back near the top at number two. Mariah Carey's E=MC2 entered the chart at number three. Duffy's Rockferry album slipped from one to four, while Elliot Minor's self-titled album was a new entry at number six.
Sam Sparro's Black and Gold fell from two to number three. While Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane from The Rascals' collaborative single, The Age Of Understatement under their Last Shadow Puppets guise, climbed from 24 to number nine. Always Where I Need To Be by the Kooks was at number 10 ahead of Chris Brown's With You at number 11.
