Michael Jackson Dominates Charts

Michael Jackson continues to dominate the UK music charts following his death on June 25th 2009.

Michael Jackson The Essential became this weeks number one album after rising 19 places in the chart. Four other Michael Jackson albums also featured inside the top ten, with Number Ones charting at number three, King Of Pop at five, Thriller at number six and Off The Wall charting at number ten.

His reign over the album chart did not end inside the top ten, with Thriller 25 charting at number 18, Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five at 23 and finally Michael Jackson - History, Past Present and Future Book 1 at number 33.

Michael Jackson also featured heavily in the UK singles chart this week. His1988 track Man in the Mirror climbed from last weeks number 11 to chart at number two this week, Billie Jean charted at 10, Thriller at number 12, Smooth Criminal at 13 and Beat It at number 19.

With five tracks within the top 20 Michael Jackson now equals Belfast singer Ruby Murray's March 1955 record for the most singles within the top 20 in the same week.
