Muse and Arctic Monkeys Lead Winners at NME Awards

Muse have been named Best British Band at this year's NME Awards, although they missed out on Best Live Act which went to Kasabian. The Arctic Monkeys collected two NME awards, including Best Album for their high-selling debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and Best Music DVD.

My Chemical Romance won the NME Award for Best International Band and The Klaxons collected the Best New Band Award. The Best Live Act award went to Kasabian who kicked off the show at Hammersmith Palais in London. Jamie T scooped the Best Solo Act award, pipping Lily Allen to the post, and The Killers took the Best Video award. Lily Allen missed out, although she was awarded with the Worst Dressed Award, something New Look certainly don't agree with, as they've just commissioned a clothing line designed by Lily, called Lily Loves.

Other winners included The View for Best Video, Zane Lowe, who was honoured with the Best Radio Show award, and Reading and Leeds Festivals for Best Live Event.

The Godlike Genius Award went to NME faves, Primal Scream who closed the ceremony with a performance of The Clash classic White Man. Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers also performed at the ceremony, which was hosted by Xfm DJ. But the highlight of the night had to be the marvellous collaboration between Jarvis Cocker and The Gossip singer Beth Ditto. Genius!
