US punk-pop band My Chemical Romance have secured their first UK number one single with Welcome To The Black Parade. This is their first time in the top ten, although their I'm Not Okay (I Promise) single made it to number 19 in 2005. My Chemical Romance knocked Razorlight's America single off the top spot, after climbing to number one from number 23. In the past year, the band have used the internet and their live performances to build up a big fanbase.
Scissor Sisters' dropped a position to number three with their I Don't Feel Like Dancin' single and David Hasselhoff dropped from three to number ten with Jump In My Car.
Beatfreakz were the highest new entry into this week's singles chart with their Superfreakz track. While James Morrison's Wonderful World single went straight in at number 20.
Meanwhile in the album chart, The Killer's album, Sam's Town kept its top spot position.Trivium scored the highest new entry in the album chart with their rock ablum, Trivium's The Crusade, charting at number seven. Luther Vandross's The Ultimate album went straight in at number 12 while Connie Fisher entered the chart at number 14
Sting's Songs From The Labyrinth - an album of lute music by 16th Century composer John Dowland - topped the classical chart and entered the main chart at number 24.
