I think we’d all be screwed.O2 Wireless Festival is proud to announce a very special headline act. With more to come across four stages, this is very much the beginning of 4th July at the festival of the year for London's only multi-stage long weekend of the best music in the world.
Our newest headliner for 2008 is playing HIS ONLY UK FESTIVAL DATE exclusively for O2 Wireless Festival. A name recognised across the globe with a career spanning over 20 years and acclaimed throughout the world as a songwriter and lyricist of the very highest quality, MORRISSEY comes to Hyde Park at his very best.
His recent 'Greatest Hits' album demonstrated the enduring power of the former Smiths frontman, showcasing a collection of only Top 20 singles, including nine Top 10 hits. Performances on Jonathan Ross and Later With Jools revealed a master at work and he remains a legendary figure in the history of British pop, cited as an influence by a host of bands past and present.
All Morrissey shows are special but this one proves to be that little bit more as his hordes of fans are certain to make Hyde Park the only place to be on 4th July, as this will be his only UK appearance this summer. In addition to the planned fireworks, this show may also give that devoted fanbase an opportunity to hear tracks from his forthcoming debut studio album for Decca / Polydor, set for release in Autumn of 2008, alongside that roll call of instantly familiar hit singles. The man himself is all set for the show and has this to say about his first open air show in London:
