Patti Smith - Special Foyles Show
Foyles will host an exclusive event with legendary poet, writer, artist and performer Patti Smith at 3pm on Saturday 20 March 2010 in Foyles bookshop at Southbank Centre, on the riverside, under the Royal Festival Hall.
Patti Smith is visiting the UK to promote her book, Just Kids (Bloomsbury), which recounts her friendship as a young artist with Robert Mapplethorpe and how their passion fuelled a lifelong pursuit of art. Patti will be signing copies and performing a couple of songs in the shop.
Patti Smith is a poet, writer, artist and performer. She has recorded ten albums and written five books, and her artwork has been exhibited worldwide. In 2005 she received the Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, the highest grade awarded by the French Republic to eminent artists and writers who have contributed significantly to furthering the arts throughout the world. She lives in New York City.
