Radiohead have scored a number one in the UK album chart with their new album, In Rainbows. The album was made available to download in October in a groundbreaking initiative that saw fans invited to pay what they thought it was worth. This week it was made available as a CD for the first time.
However, this week was the first opportunity to obtain the album on CD. In fact, Radiohead's In Rainbows was the only new entry in this week's top 40.
Take That's Beautiful World climbed back up to number two in the album chart, while Leona Lewis's Spirit album, slipped from number one to number three ahead of Mika's Life In Cartoon Motion at four and Michael Buble's, Call Me Irresponsible album.
Amy MacDonald's, This is the Life was at number six, followed by Amy Winehouse's Back To Black album at number seven and The Hoosiers, The Trick To Life at eight.
Meanwhile, in the singles chart, X Factor winner Leon Jackson topped the chart for the third week in a row. Soulja Boy's Crank That climbed to number two, while Leona Lewis's Bleeding Love single slipped to number three. However, Leona's single was confirmed this week as the biggest-selling release of 2007.
Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse with Valerie remained at number six ahead of Girls Aloud's Call The Shots at seven. Rockstar by Nickelback climbed to number eight, and the highest new entry in the singles chart was Basshunter's Now You're Gone, at 14.
Britney Spears who sadly lost custody of her children this week after being treated in hospital had a new entry with Piece of Me at number 19. ilikemusic wishes Britney the best and wishes the tabloid press would give the girl a break and leave her alone.
Mika's Relax, Take it Easy single went straight in at number 20 while the White Stripes new single Conquest entered the chart at number 30.
