Rihanna Celebrates Eighth Week At Top Of UK Chart

Rihanna is celebrating her eighth week at the top of the UK singles chart with Umbrella, her biggest hit so far.

The 19-year-old Barbadian singer kept Kate Nash in second place with Foundations, while Avril Lavigne had a new entry at number three with her When You're Gone single. Enrique Iglesias's Do You Know single was at number four and The Hoosiers climbed a place to number five with Worried About Ray. Natasha Bedingfield's new single, Soulmate, entered the chart at number seven. Puff Daddy's I'll Be Missing You re-entered the singles chart at 32 after he performed it at the Concert for Diana. While Nelly Furtado's Say It Right single also re-entered at number 26.

Meanwhile, in the album chart, the Chemical Brothers went straight in at the top of the albums chart with their brand new dance album, We Are the Night. Crowded House, entered the chart at number three with their new album, Time on Earth. Velvet Revolver also had a new entry with their album, Libertad, at number six.

Some artists who played at Concert For Diana enjoyed the benefits, as their albums went back into the album chart. For example, Take That's Ultimate Collection climbed to number five, Elton John's Rocket Man - The Definitive Hits jumped from 99 to 23 and Rod Stewart charted at 16 with The Complete American Songbook 1-4.
