Rihanna Retains Number One Spot

R&B star Rihanna has retained her position at number one, with her single Umbrella featuring Jay-Z, based on download sales alone. In fact all top three singles in this week's UK charts have remained unchanged. Maroon 5's Makes Me Wonder stayed at number two, while Beyonce and Shakira's Beautiful Liar held the number three position.

Hellogoodbye went up a position from five to number four, with Gym Class Heroes climbing to number five with Cupid's Chokehold.

Ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena saw her debut solo single, Real Girl, climb from 11 to number nine. While Rufus Wainwright slipped nine places from two to number 11 with Release the Stars.

Meanwhile, in the album chart, Maroon 5 saw their album It Won't Be Soon Before Long knocking Linkin Park off the top spot. Amy Winehouse's Back to Black rose from six to number three, 30 weeks after it was first released, following her recent Ivor Novello award accolade.

Michael Buble's Call Me Irresponsible album was at number four with Mika's album Life in Cartoon Motion climbing back up to number five.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Trip the Light Fantastic album view Sophie's driving playlist here was a new entry at seven, while Ozzy Osborne's Black Rain entered the chart at number eight. The Cribs Men's Needs Women's Needs Whatever went in at number 13.
