Launched in 2004 Rising Styles (RS) (formerly known as The Brighton Hip Hop Festival) is the UK's largest celebration of international Hip-Hop culture. Building on the success of high profile events, the 2009 festival is developing a fantastic line up of high profile events that are designed to appeal to all audiences old and new and promises to be bigger and better.
Events confirmed for 2009 includes Battle Jam, Rap Slam, Frieze Box the street art event where the artists are given a blank canvas and throughout the day produce a work of art, a King Of The Beats special and tons more.
The festival will culminate in a live event featuring top DJs as well as both established and emerging hip-hop acts. Rising Styles is also developing new events which will feature on the 2009 schedule including our 'In Conversation' strand where the audience can interact with artists, debate and network plus touring projects and commissions.
Previous artists to grace Rising Styles through varied performances include; Blak Twang, SkinnyMan, Soweto Kinch, Emmanuel Jal, Million Dan, Kidz In The Hall (USA) The Infomatics (Ireland) as well as up and coming artists from across the UK.
