Scouting For Girls Secure UK Chart Top Spot

Scouting For Girls have topped the UK album chart this week with their self-titled debut album.

The band climbed to secure the top spot from number four with their album which includes She's So Lovely and Elvis Ain't Dead, pushing another debut album, Amy MacDonald's This Is the Life down to second place. Take That retained their position at number three with Beautiful World.

Meanwhile, in the singles chart, Critic's Choice Brit Award winner, Adele, entered the chart at number two with her Chasing Pavements single, while Basshunter kept his position at the top of the UK singles chart for a second week in a row with Now That You're Gone.

This is the first chart entry for singer songwriter Adele, who recently topped the BBC's Sound of 2008 poll, as she released a limited 500 copies of her debut single Hometown Glory back in October.

Britney Spears meanwhile, slipped from two to three with Piece of Me, Lupe Fiasco's superstar was at number four, ahead of Rihanna at number five. The Courteeners single, What Took You So Long entered the chart at 20 while Madness saw NW5 go straight in at number 24.
