Shakira Tops UK Singles Chart and Razorlight Retain Album Number One

Shakira topped the pops this weekend, as the final Top Of The Pops Show aired its final countdown. Shakira rose from number three to knock McFly from the top of the UK singles chart with her collaboration with Wyclef Jean, Hips Don't Lie. She also did the double by topping the download singles chart too.

McFly fell to number six with their Sport Relief track, Don't Stop Me Now. Rhianna also fell from number two in the chart to number three, Rogue Traders fell from six to eight and Nelly Furtado slipped from seven to 10 with Maneater.

Meanwhile Lily Allen and James Morrison retained their singles chart positions. Lily's smile stayed at number four while James stayed at number five with the incredible You Give Me Something (although Lily's Alright Still album slipped one place in the album chart to number three).

New entries into the UK singles top ten include Madonna and Kasabian. Madonna was the highest new entry at number seven with her new single from Confessions On A Dancefloor, Get Together. Madonna plays Wembley Stadium this week having kicked off the European leg of her World Tour on Sunday. Kasabian went straight in at number nine with their Empire single, which is also being released later in August as part of a ground-breaking release strategy by Columbia records.
