Smirnoff Creative Announces Winners
March 2010 - The Smirnoff Co. has announced the details of four exciting nightlife events set to hit the UK showcasing forward-thinking promoters from across the country. Each has been awarded a £5,000 Creative Grant as part of the brand's ongoing commitment to celebrate unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experiences - the type you look back on and say 'I was there'.
Prepare to celebrate the dawn of seven iconic decades in one night, take a journey through the colours of light, delve deep into the jungle and dance with robots from another dimension at four exhilarating events.
These cutting-edge ideas were hand-picked from the hundreds of creative individuals who applied to win the four bursaries available via The Smirnoff Co's dedicated Facebook page. Nightlife luminaries Rob da Bank of Radio 1, DJ duo The Queens of Noize, second generation music mogul Oliver Wilson, nightlife correspondent Rahul Verma and Clash Magazine's Matthew Bennett make up the vodka brand's panel of experts who selected winners.
Now in its second year, the initiative has already supported more than 22 original nights around the UK. Working with up-and-coming promoters at grassroots level the Smirnoff Creative Grants initiative gives thousands of party people an experience they will never forget. In 2010, London, Brighton and Cornwall will see the future of nightlife in action as the chosen four turn their ideas into a reality.
Rob da Bank comments: "Smirnoff Creative Grants is one of the best things out there in the UK club and festival market, for people that want to make something of their career. It's the chance of a lifetime for people with totally original ideas to get the cash from Smirnoff to follow it through and realise their vision. "
Forties to The Noughties
Step back in time for one night only and celebrate the most exciting elements of the last seven decades, from the fabulous forties to the new-age noughties. Promoters Barney Sutton, Tim Sampson and Richard Cohen of the Bearded Kitten collective will be using their £5k Smirnoff Creative Grant to create an unforgettable night incorporating seven extraordinary New Year's Eve parties, one every hour, on the hour.
