The Killers Beat Guns N Roses To Number One

Day & Age, the latest album from Las Vegas rock group The Killers, has beaten the long awaited new album from Guns N Roses to the top of the UK album charts.

Chinese Democracy by Guns N Roses is supposedly the most expensive album ever recorded, and after much anticipation surrounding its release, it has charted at number two.

X Factor star Rhydian was another new entry into the UK album chart, with his debut album Rhydian charting at number three. This was followed by former X Factor winner Leona Lewis, with the deluxe edition of her album Spirit falling to number four after topping the charts last week. The top five albums were rounded off this week with the Priests, three actual Irish priests, charting at five with their self titled album.

The UK album charts saw a number of entries outside the top 10 this week, led by Kanye West. His album 808s and Heartbreaks charted at number 11. His previous album, Graduation, topped the UK album charts in 2007 and critics have suggested that his decision to abandon rap on this latest album may be the reason behind its lower chart position.
