The Verve Top UK Album Chart

Proving that time apart and a number of break-ups can't stand in the way of a passion for music, Forth, the first album release from The Verve in more than ten years, has shot straight to the top of the album charts.

As a result of this epic come back The Script, the Irish three piece and last week's number one, were knocked down to number three.

Another new entry came from Slipknot who also made a return after four years, with their fourth studio album All Hope Is Gone coming in at number two.

In the singles chart I Kissed A Girl, the single from US singer Katy Perry, remained at number one.

The highest new entry in this weeks singles chart came from Eric Prydz with his single Pjanoo in at number two, pushing The Script down to number four.

Disturbia, the latest single from R'n'B sensation Rihanna moved up the singles chart to number three, and after their matching blue trouser stint at this years Reading Festival, Biffy Clyro rose five places to sit at number five with their single Mountains.

Other new entries in this week's album chart came from Eva Cassidy with Somewhere coming in at number four, Michael Jackson moon walking his way up to number five with his latest collection, King Of Pop, The Game coming in at number nine with LAX and finally, the lovely Teddy Thompson coming in at number ten with his album A Piece Of What You Need.
