They cite Oasis as their musical mentors, and are said to be "Oasis for the MySpace Generation".
And this week they can celebrate a number one debut album and a top five single, as their Same Jeans single is at number five in the singles chart.
In the album chart, Damon Albarn's new project, The Good The Bad And The Queen followed close behind The View at number two with their eponymous album
Amy Winehouse's Back To Black album slipped to number three, James Morrison fell to four and The Fratellis to number five.
Meanwhile, in the singles chart, Mika retained his lead at the top of the chart with his Grace Kelly single, despite the track not being released on CD until Monday. It stays at number one on the strength of download sales alone.
No wonder then that Mika recently won the BBC Sound of 2007 poll.
The new chart rules, introduced at the start of 2007, enable the sales of digital singles to count towards a chart position, regardless of whether their is a physical version available on CD (with a record deal supporting its release) or not. This means older releases and releases from unsigned bands can all bag a chart position if enough people buy them.
Just Jack also kept his position at number two with his Starz In Their Eyes single, while dance act Mason rose from number 11 to number three with Exceeder. JoJo kept her position at number four with Too Little Too Late, while The View's Same Jeans single slipped two places from three to number five.
