Timbaland takes UK number one spot

Timbaland has knocked The Proclaimers off the UK singles chart top spot, after their three week run at number one, with his Give It To Me single, featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake.

Mark Ronson's Stop Me featuring D Merriwether went in at number two, while Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend single was at number three.

The Proclaimers charity record slipped from one to four, while Beyonce and Shakira entered the chart at number five with their collaborative single, Beautiful Liar.

Gareth Gates's comeback single, Changes, entered the chart at 14. While The Fray's How To Save A Life single stayed in the top ten for yet another week, at number seven.

Meanwhile, in the album chart, the Kings of Leon retained their position at the top of the album chart with their Because Of the Times album. Maximo Park's Our Earthly Pleasures fell from two to nine, replaced by Cascada's Everytime We Touch album at number two. Take That's Beautiful World stayed at number three.

Justin Timberlake's Futuresex/Lovesounds album went back into the top 10 at number seven. With Nelly Furtado's Loose album climbing to number four in the album chart and Timbaland's Shock Value album holding fast at number ten, the trio have much to celebrate this week. Great album positions and a number one collaborative single to boot.

New entries in the UK album chart included Bright Eyes, in at number 13 with Cassadaga, and Ciara, who's The Evolution album entered the chart at number 17.
