Marking their 10th UK number one, U2 sit proudly atop the official UK album charts with their latest album No Line On The Horizon.
As a result of this achievement they are now one of the top five album chart acts of all time, according to the Official Chart Company.
Elvis Presley has set the record with 15 UK number one albums, followed by The Beatles in second place with 11. U2 are now joint third place with Madonna and the Rolling Stones.
The Irish band gained their first chart-topper in 1983 with War. U218, their singles compilation released in 2006 climbed up the album charts this week, from 39 to 17.
However, the lead single from No Line On The Horizin, Get On Your Boots, has continued to slip down the singles charts two weeks after its release, having failed to make the top ten.
Last weeks number one single My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson slipped down to chart at number four this week.
The official UK number one single came from US rapper Flo Rida and his single Right Round.
This was followed by The Saturday's official Comic Relief 09 single I Just Can't Get Enough, a cover of the Depeche Mode classic, which charted at number two. Lady GaGa followed at number three with Poker Face, Kelly Clarkson charted at number four and Taylor Swift completed the top 5 singles at number 5 with her single Love Story.
