Youth Music charity teams up with Homelands festival

WINNERS PLAY THE OPENING SET AT HOMELANDS 2005!
For the second year running, Youth Music has teamed up with Mean Fiddler and promoters, We Love... to give budding DJs and musicians the chance to open the massive We Love... Homelands Festival in Hampshire on May 28.

A panel of music industry experts judged the entries and selected the lucky budding DJs who got to play the opening set in the hip hop arena at Homelands 2005!

Last year, Hampshire locals, Shane Mursell (16) aka DJ Slayer and Vince Frank (18) aka Mr Mouth won and got to play alongside some of the best artists from around the world including Faithless, Scissor Sisters and Radio 1's Tim Westwood.

This year, winner, Anthony Culverwell aka DJ Switch - aged 16 from the West Midlands and Foly Savage aka DJ Volley - aged 18 from Gosport, Hampshire, played to cheers from the crowd - DJ Switch impressing with his scratching and turntablism technique, and DJ Volley going down a storm with the drum n bass ladees.

We caught up with Annie Mac and Justin Robertson, supporters of this year's competition, alongside Rob Da Bank to see what they think of the up and coming DJ talent.
