The evening began with all the glamour, glitz and gowns on the red carpet, with uber cool Gwen Stefani looking the best of all. Even Slipknot arrived dressed in smart suits (and masks of course)!
Queen Latifah reigned as host, a fitting host seeing as she opened the doors for female hip hop artists and combines within herself such an array of talents. Nominated herself for The Dana Owens album, Queen Latifah also dazzled with her performances of Lush Life and Baby Get Lost.
The late great Ray Charles and his album Genius Loves Company proved the big winners at the 47th GRAMMY Awards, with Charles taking five awards — among them Album Of The Year as well as Record Of The Year for the Norah Jones duet "Here We Go Again" — and the album earning another three for its producers and engineers.
But GRAMMYs were spread among a number of high-profile newer artists, with four going to Alicia Keys and three each to Kanye West and Usher. The three were the top nominated artists this year (nominated for eight, ten and eight, respectively).
