It gives me an opportunity to truly express myself, unlike what happens in an everyday living situation where there are restrictions on you and limitations on you and demands on you and bills to pay, through music I can truly be comfortable with who I am, and do what I really want to do and say what I really want to say.

Maroon 5 picked up the award for Best New Artist, a fitting accolade before they head off for an eight-week tour of the States.
Alongside U2, other British Artists to triumph came in the shape of Rod Stewart (for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album), Basement Jaxx for Best Electronic Dance Album, and Led Zeppelin picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award. Joss Stone, Jamie Cullum and Franz Ferdinand were nominated but failed to score this time round.
All types of music are represented in the Grammys, from Prince to President Clinton and this year saw the introduction of a Hawaiian Music Category. However, this year's awards had a decidedly urban flava with the majority of big wins going to RnB and soul artists. Rap was only first recognized in the Grammys in 1989, but these days Rap features in 13 categories.
But The Grammys are all about the SHOW and it was the performances that made this one such a winner, with crossovers and collaborations shaking the Staples Centre.
