Adele conquers Grammy Awards 2012

The 54th Grammy Awards has been conquered by Adele, who won all six awards she was nominated for; Record of the year - Rolling In The Deep, Album of The Year - 21, Song of The Year - Rolling In The Deep, Best Pop Solo Performance - Someone Like You, Best Pop Vocal Album - 21 and Best Short Form Music Video - Rolling In The Deep.

Matching a record set by Beyonce in 2010 for most Grammy wins by a female act in one night, Adele was moved to tears as she claimed the award for Album of the Year for her record-breaking second album 21:

"This record is inspired by something that is really normal and everyone's been through it, just a rubbish relationship, and it's gone on to do things I can't tell you how I feel about it, it's been the most life-changing year."

Adele's producer Paul Epworth also picked up Producer Of The Year, having produced two tracks from 21 plus Cee-Lo Green and Foster The People.

Foo Fighters also faired well, picking up five awards for Best Long Form Music Video - Back and Forth, Best Rock Performance - Walk, Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance - White Limo, Best Rock Song - Walk and Best Rock Album - Wasting Light.

Collecting the award for Best Rock Album, frontman Dave Grohl said:

"This is a great honour because this record was a special record for our band," frontman Dave Grohl told the crowd. "Rather than go to the best studio, we made this one in my garage with some microphones and a tape machine. It shows that the human element of making music is what's most important."

Kanye West picked up three awards for his fifth studio album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, giving the rapper a total of eighteen Grammy Awards to his name. Neither Kanye West nor Jay Z were present at the ceremony.

DJ Skrillex also picked up three awards, while folk duo The Civil Wars, country singer Taylor Swift and gospel singer Kirk Franklin all picked up two.

Bon Iver collected the award for Best New Act, Corinne Bailey Rae won Best R&B Performance while Paul McCartney collected an award for Best Historical Album for his deluxe re-issue of Wings' Band On The Run.

Amy Winehouse's parents accepted her award for best pop duo/group performance for Body And Soul, her duet with Tony Bennett and the last recording made by Winehouse before her death in July 2011.

Live performances came from Rihanna and Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Sir Paul McCartney, the Beach Boys, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson, who performed a version of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You following the singer's death in Los Angeles the day before the ceremony. Alicia Keys also took to the stage in tribute of Etta James who died last month, performing a rendition of A Sunday Kind of Love.
