The Amy Winehouse Foundation has revealed plans to fund a scholarship to the Sylvia Young Theatre School.

The foundation was established following the death of Winehouse late in 2011, with the intention of helping young people - particularly those at a financial disadvantage - to explore their creative talents.

Syliva Young Theatre School is a prestigious independent school based in Westminster, London, which intends to supplement a normal education with a thorough introduction to and instruction in the performing arts.

Mitch Winehouse said of the new scholarship: As most people would know, Amy was a pupil at Sylvia Young Theatre School. This is where her talent was recognised and nurtured. The Amy Winehouse Foundation would like to give a child, who otherwise couldn't afford the same opportunity, the chance to realise their talents.
