The renowned Cambridge Folk Festival has today announced the first string of artists set to play the 2012 event.
Singer-songwriter and activist Billy Bragg will play a special set on Thursday night to celebrate the 100th Birthday of folk legend Woody Guthrie. Born on 14th July 1912, the American musician was known to perform with the slogan 'This Machine Kills Fascists' stuck to his guitar. He has been cited as a major influence by many musicians including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Joe Strummer.
The festival will also see a rare performance by the original line-up of Irish folk royalty Clannad, singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, Scottish duo The Proclaimers, June Tabor & Oysterband and the first full public performance for 30 years by English folk legend Nic Jones.
The festival will take place at Cherry Hinton Hall, in Cambridge from 26-29th July 2012. A full festival ticket costs £120, with day passes and camping options available.
