Richard Russell (owner of XL Recordings) and producer Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, The Horrors, Adele, Spector) have teamed up under the name Fresh Touch. The pair travelled to Ethiopia in 2010 as part of a musical and cultural exchange, and while they were there they collected a bank of samples and absorbed a host of inspirations, which they have now woven together over four tracks on their Ethiopian EP, due for release through Angular Records on February 13th. You can listen to the first track of the EP, Harar Rhythm, below.
The pair also joined Damon Albarn on his trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo earlier this year, the result of which was an album called DRC Music, the profits from which go to Oxfam.
