Once the lead singer of the Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds-inspired Loverman, Gabriel Bruce is now going solo and is set to release new single Sleep Paralysis through Off Modern Records on December 5th.
The single still sees Bruce's hushed baritone carry a Nick Cave undertone, but finds it equally redolent of the plaintive drawl of The National's Matt Berninger, while the rock guitars of his previous band have disappeared, replaced by the delicate hum of an organ and percussion that grows increasingly emphatic as the track progresses. The 7" single release of Sleep Paralysis will come as part of a book that seeks to explore the sensation after which it is named.
