Indie rockers Okkervil River have recorded five new covers that they are giving away for free from their website: www.okkervilriver.com. Entitled the Golden Opporunities 2 mixtape, it acts as a sequel to the Golden Opportunities mixtape that the band recorded and released back in 2007. This time around the Texans have chosen to record their takes on four songs by relatively unknown artists, as well as one traditional American number.
All the tracks were recorded live over the course of one day, using only a two-track tape, which places them in stark contrast to the band's detailed and intricate album I Am Very Far, which was released earlier this year on Jagjaguwar.
