Universal Music Catalogue UK has signed seminal British punk band Sex Pistols.
The company now own the copyright for the band's landmark album Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols, and plan to release a deluxe version later in 2012 to celebrate its 35th anniversary, as well as organising other events and releases in 2012 and beyond.
John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, commented on the acquisition in his own inimitable manner:
Music can be great, when done by the great.
The Sex Pistols are the greatest.
Universal now has a trophy room,
Music is the imitation of nature,
The Sex Pistols are nature,
So please give generously.
