Snoop Lion has today revealed the artwork for his twelfth studio album Reincarnated.
Putting hip hop on hold, Reincarnated is Snoop Dogg's first reggae album and also the first released under his new name Snoop Lion. Announcing his name change in July 2012 after he was rechristened by a Rastafarian priest in Jamaica, he said of the change “I feel like I’ve always been Rastafari, I just didn’t have my third eye open.”
The album is accompanied by a documentary of the same name which follows Snoop recording the record in Jamaica last year. The feature-length documentary will premiere in UK cinemas in March, watch the trailer below.
Snoop Lion has also been announced to play UK festival T In The Park. Celebrating their 20th year, he joins a line-up including Mumford & Sons, Rihanna and The Killers. Geoff Ellis, Festival Director, said:
“Snoop Dogg is a true legend and one of the most influential rap stars of all time. His first and only T in the Park performance so far back in 2005 was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our 20 year history, and we’re hugely excited to bring him back to Scotland for our 20th edition. Snoop is a phenomenal live act, and I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us this year.”
