After dropping her new single Closer on Soundcloud last week, evocative soul singer Lulu James has today revealed the accompanying video. A sophisticated monochrome cut, the video backs Lulu's slick soul in a track created during writing and recording sessions with The Invisible's Dave Okumu (who also nurtured and produced Mercury nominated Jessie Ware).
Her first release through RCA, Closer follows Lulu's self-released debut EP Rope Mirage in late spring 2012, which was followed by the beautiful, minimal anthem Be Safe released via influential new label Black Butter in November.
Released on April 7th, Closer is backed with remixes from Kidnap Kid, Brolin and Domzilla.
Lulu is currently working on her debut album with long-standing collaborator Domzilla, as well as Dave Okumu and Two Inch Punch. The album will be released in the summer.
Upcoming shows:
08/03 - The Other Rooms - Newcastle
13/03 - Shepherds Bush Empire - London (w/ Jessie Ware and Laura Mvula)
25/04 - Rescue Rooms, Nottingham W/ Rudimental
