This song is very special, a song that we should make note of our generation. It might just seem like regaee and dubstep have formed well in this instant, but it’s a little more than that. I truly believe this song is the break through that is beginning to change people’s perception of dubstep, especially those who aren’t fond of it. Let me explain my reasons; I’m a die hard drum and bass fan and always have been, so when dubstep became socially exceptable I won’t lie it made me slightly bitter. But that’s when you realise music is important to you and times change alongside the music industry. And this is why I really, really like this tune; it works. Simple as. I wasn’t a huge Skrillex fan, I’ve become fonder of Skrillex and dubstep but my heart will always be fonder to old school liquid drum and bass, after all, we’re only human.
Skrillex makes these two completely opposite genres of music merge perfectly. You can still recognise Skrillex’s bold flick’s and flares swimming in the beat, but to master the merge of what only can be described as a soulful legends voice through a generation and turn it into something loveable and current is something I can’t help but applaud Skrillex for. Of course not forgetting the living legend Damian Marley “Jr Gong” who quite frankly does not need introducing; beautiful rhythm mixed with dirty dubstep (I never thought I’d say this) but this has my upmost approval and I advise you to not just listen to it, but buy it and support these artists the right way.
