artists you laugh at how bad it really is. ROCK ON MUSE
"Sunrise", the first single from 'Astronaut', was, according to the keyboardist, "an anti-dark times song that says 'wake up and enjoy the day'. It's a simple, uplifting, joyous piece of music, a bit like [George Harrison's] 'Here Comes The Sun'." The supremely infectious "Want You More", reworked by console whiz Dallas Austin, veers between dark and light - "it's at the Brandenberg Gate," laughs Nick, who proceeds to give some background to some of the album's other tracks.
"'Nice' is a relationship song that says it doesn't have to be complicated - it was written during that pre-9/ii good mood when we were all back together, the sun was out and the attitude was incredibly positive.
'Taste The Summer' is complete Duran disco! You can't beat a four-on-the-floor beat. The physical sound of it is astonishing. That could be a single. The title track is about going on a physical or mental journey; about not knowing what's going to happen next. We did it with Dallas, who was a real ball of energy. He said, 'I want to do one of those Duran Duran songs with one of those uplifting choruses that only you guys do!' It represents our fun side.
