The students of Shakespeare High are back as As The Bell Rings returns to Disney Channel UK for a second series. Brad Kavanagh stars as Dylan, the cool kid obsessed with being a musician. Meanwhile, Disney Channel has launched a major new talent contest, My School Musical, fronted by two of the channel's rising UK stars, Brad Kavanagh from As the Bell Rings and Samantha Dorrance winner of last year's High School Musical: You're the Star.

I Like Music caught up with Brad Kavanagh to talk about My School Musical, his time on stage in Billy Elliot the Musical and The Hoosiers.

ILM: My School Musical - I gather it's a UK talent search and you and Samantha will reveal the top entries every Friday and showcase your own skills in a series of how to shows? Tell us more?

BRAD: Samantha and I will be presenting the My School Musical show, which is Disney Channel's nationwide search for new talent. We'll be looking for three main categories of talent - "singing", "dancing" and "performance" - all with a High School Musical twist. Samantha and I will also be doing these really fun 'how to' shows to help inspire people. All you need to do is to send in a short clip of your talents to myschoolmusical.co.uk, where the best will be uploaded ready for Disney Channel users to view and vote.

ILM: What's the best bit about the show for you?

BRAD: We're just both really excited to be involved! It's an amazing show and we're both so proud and excited about it.

ILM: What tips can you pass on to ilikemusic readers who want to make it in show business?

BRAD: My experiences as Dylan on As The Bell Rings have taught me loads - they have really helped with my acting / singing skills. Disney Channel has given me a great opportunity and I would recommend that anyone wanting to get into acting should try and get as much experience as possible - like acting in a local school productions or joining a local theatre group.
