Britney Does Somethin'

Britney Spears has just sold her 60 millionth album since she exploded onto the scene in 1999. To celebrate this phenomenal achievement the 28th Feburary 2005 will see the release of Britney Spears funky Do Somethin' on SonyBMG. This fantastic new single is taken from Britney's recent record-breaking Greatest Hits collection Greatest Hits: My Prerogative.

With 60 million albums under her belt, Britney Spears leads the pack as the biggest selling female artist of the last 5 years. This record puts her ahead of fellow megastars Beyonce, Avril Lavigne, Madonna, Cher, JLo, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Dido.

Bloodshy & Avant, who together with Britney, brought us the hottest track of 2004 and UK No.1 - Toxic, produce Do Somethin'. Another slick piece of electro-pop that will be on heavy rotation on both dance floors and i-pods throughout the year.

Britney's recent Greatest Hits: My Prerogative broke the UK record for 1st week sales of a 'Greatest Hits' by a female artist - selling over 115,000 in the first week alone. The album has since gone double platinum in the UK (600,000) and is close to being certified triple platinum...

Do Somethin' is a classic Britney track that looks set to be a huge hit.

So what about the video?
Brit wades in Gwen Stefani's territory as she chants through this rock-ska song and dirty dances with her girls in the video:

"Britney and the girls...perform the bridge with a different attitude, almost burlesque. [T]hey play at undressing each other to get the guys in the audience to react, to come to life, and some of them do actually move their bodies a little bit--it's beginning to work."
