Frankmusik - Better Off As Two

With his razor-sharp cheekbones, zig-zag undercut and bag full of sparkling musical moments Frankmusik is going to brightly burn his image on to 09's retina . Better Off As Two is his debut single - a lambent disco-pop diamond.

Pop's new leading man arrives in the form of a 23-year-old college dropout from Thornton Heath, South London. He is a musical polymath, playing, producing and writing his records. His talent impressed musical maven Stuart Price so much he took him into his studio where they worked together as equals: something that would have thrilled the teenage star as he grew up glued to late night house shows on Kiss FM and sneaking into clubs at 15.

With Radio 1 daytime plays and critical plaudits from last year's limited edition 3 Little Words EP Frankmusik has a turbo-charged run at stardom. But the real story of his June album Complete Me is of red raw heartbreak, written about one girl. Every performance of the songs is an emotional high-wire walk and every press interview a chance to exorcise a bit - giving him the unsmiling, deep thinking, slightly scary, faintly tongue in cheek look of a love child of Rimbaud and Verlaine if they'd been fans of the John Foxx of Ultravox.
