'1' - August 8th - Vertigo

Fresh from a highly successful UK tour, Joy Zipper release '1' - the simply-titled second single to be taken from their magnificent new album 'The Heartlight Set'.

The beautiful pairing of Vinny Cafiso and Tabitha Tindale share songwriting and vocal duties throughout the album (first single 'You're So Good' came courtesy of Miss Tindale) but here Vinny gets his chance to shine. Extolling the virtues of "the one…lying naked in the sun / making eyes at everyone". It is unclear whether "the one" is the one for Vinny, or perhaps The One in a more Biblical or Matrix-like manner. And, for that, we like it, because either way the song is a blinder.

Where the LP is jam packed with an array of pop gems, '1' is a clear stand out - a feel-good hit of the summer if ever there was (the) one.
