Jun: ilikemusic because... music can convey a mood, enhance a mood or change a mood. Music can be used to inspire and the artform is simple yet complicated. It's fun to listen to and even more fun to create and perform. It speaks when just a simple word can't. It's a blessing!!McFly have recorded the official Red Nose Day single.
"All About You", released on 7th March, features a 60 piece orchestra and is a brand new song written especially for Comic Relief by Tom Fletcher of McFly. A double a-side, the single also features a cover of the classic Carole King track "You've Got A Friend". The band - Tom, Danny Jones, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter - recorded the tracks in Studio 2 at Abbey Road in December 2004.
McFly recently returned from a trip to Uganda, Africa where they visited a project funded by Comic Relief; Kamwokya Christian Caring Community. The project supports the community by caring for people affected by HIV/AIDS, running a health clinic providing vocational training as well as operating a primary school for children orphaned by HIV.
Having seen for themselves the difference Comic Relief money makes, the boys were overwhelmed by what they saw.
Tom said "None of us knew what to expect when we flew to Uganda, but it was like nothing we could have imagined. We spent four days in a slum called Kamwokya meeting the people who lived there. We met kids and teenagers leading really, really hard lives - many had been orphaned by AIDs, some had to look after all of their brothers and sisters as there was no one else to help and some of them were ill themselves. But they were all amazing". On the last day the band staged an impromptu free concert for all the children they met.
