Originally a hit in 1982, Melanie's stellar reinvigoration of 'I Want Candy' is produced by Stephen Hague, whose previous credits include; New Order, Siouxsie & The Banshees and Robbie Williams. Combining Melanie's inimitable vocals with blistering guitar chords, it's an irresistible, energetic tour-de-force with a razor-sharp hook.

One of the UK's most dynamic and successful female singer-songwriters, the new single - which was specially recorded for the film's soundtrack - precedes her eagerly awaited fourth solo album, released April 2nd.

Melanie's incredible solo success boasts 6 UK Top Ten singles, 2 Top Ten LPs and almost 200 combined weeks on the UK charts. The only female performer to top the charts independently and as part of a duo, quartet and quintet, she has also co-written 11 Number 1 UK singles - a total never bettered by another female artist.

Her three critically acclaimed solo albums have sold 3 million copies collectively.

Heralded by Empire as "Fresh and funny…a British American Pie", the film is produced by Barnaby & Piers Thompson for Fragile Films and is released on Friday, March 23rd 2007.

There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.
