And he's still doing it his way, proof that, to succeed, as long as you have the talent, dedication and skills, you can succeed. Sway was one of 12 nominated for the highly credible Nationwide Mercury Music Prize and last year Sway beat 50 Cent to a MOBO award.
"Determination is very important," says Sway. "Determination and perception. Perception is equally important as determination. Even if you're on your own, you need to appear as though there are more people behind you. You need to create the illusion that you can be successful. People always accept potential. That's why people have credit cards. Potential could mean as much as the actual thing sometimes."
Irish pop band and stars of CiTV show, Bels Boys, agree that determination is crucial to succeeding in any career.
"If you try something and don't like it, just stick at it and just try again and again. Never give up," suggests Luke.
