Richard Fleeshman chats to I Like Music

Richard Fleeshman released his debut single, Coming Down in November, and his new album NEON. And, it's not what you might expect from an ex-Soapstar. It's actually rather good guitar-based pop with an indie flavour with songs written or co-written by Richard himself who took a year out after winning Soapstar Superstar and refused offers of doing covers to write and get creative and find the right deal.

I Like Music caught up with Richard to talk about the new album, the importance of not doing covers and his time on the most famous Street in the UK - Corrie.

ILM: Coming Down - your debut single is Record of the Week on Radio 2 and out now. Can you describe the track's vibe and how it came about?

RICHARD: I just went into the studio at the start of the year and started writing. It was one of the ones that people started getting excited about. It was literally in the first few days of writing and it's basically about a break up, but its not a depressing song its quite upbeat which is good because I've sung it so many times - I'd be throwing myself off a bridge otherwise!
